1. We believe that the most important dietary factor for pet health is not to feed mainly dry food, but to feed mainly canned food. A cheap canned food is better than an expensive dried food. Some dried food is good for cleaning the teeth but this should not be the main diet. (Try yourself living on dried food and see what happens.)
2. Secondly include a variety of flavors and do not over-emphasize fish. For cats, fish flavors should make between 1/4 to 1/8 of the diet, no more and no less.
3. Thirdly it does make a difference to feed "organic" pet food from your local health food store. If these are too expensive or if your pet does not like the taste, then use less but please do use some. (If you have difficulty locating a local source of "organic" pet food, send us an email. We probably can ship to you.)
4. Finally, we believe that a powdered supplement can serve two purposes: to build up your pet's long term health and also to sprinkle on ordinary pet food to convert it into a tasty treat.
5. We believe that a pet supplement powder should be inexpensive and should include the following.
   • Nutritional yeast (For natural B complex, numerous health benefits, and pets love the taste.)
   • Probiotics and enzymes. (Canned foods are lacking in enzymes and beneficial bacteria which your pet was designed to receive from raw foods in nature.)
   • Collagen and glucosamine. (Nutritional joint support which is best given continuosly and starting early in life.)
   • CLA. (A nutritional oil which also helps to control weight and to act as a mild appetite suppressant.)
6. Unfortunately, we do not yet have such a product to list. We are currently engaged in research and discussion. We hope either to list a ready-made powder or ingredients for making such a powder.
7. Equally important to diet is to protect your pet (and yourself) from fleas and parasites. We believe in using prescription flea hormone products from your veterinarian. These are safe, extremely effective, and can be bought without toxic pesticide ingredients.
8. However tick-borne disases are increasing and are extremely dangerous, both to your pets and to your family. If your pet goes outdoors, then during tick season, it is prudent to choose a flea control that includes an anti-tick pesticide.
